I lost my link or my pass

Updated September 2026

Ask the person you hold for to resend your access from inside their Fold'em app. It is three taps for them: Circle, then your name, then Resend keyholder access. A fresh pass and a fresh link are emailed to the address on file, and the old ones stop working the moment the new ones are made. Nothing can be sent to a different address by asking support, because that is what stops a lost link becoming somebody else's key.

Why you cannot recover it yourself

You have no Fold'em account, no password and no login. What you hold is a link and a pass, and both of them are credentials in their own right: whoever holds them can read the status page and receive the card. That is what makes them convenient, and it is also why there is no self service route to a new one.

Every keyholder credential is tied to the email address the user nominated and you proved with the six digit code. Support cannot send it anywhere else. If we could, then anyone who could convince us they were you could redirect the one channel every alert about that person travels on, which is the exact attack the code round trip at accept exists to close.

A different address is not a resend at all. It is an identity change, and the only route to it is for them to remove you and invite the new address from scratch.

What the resend actually does

The resend is a callable inside their app, and it does three things at once. It mints a new dashboard credential, so you get a fresh status link. It rotates the pass credential, so the card that is emailed to you replaces the old one in Wallet rather than joining it. And it kills the old credentials outright: a link or a card from before the resend stops answering and returns an error, which is the property that makes a lost link safe to abandon.

It also opens a 24 hour window in which a new device may set up the Face ID check on your link. That window exists so a genuine device loss can recover, and it is stamped only by this act, because it is the user's own authenticated action rather than something a link holder can trigger.

The resend is rate limited on their side: once an hour, and at most three times in 24 hours. If they hit that, the app tells them plainly rather than silently doing nothing.

Getting your access back

  1. Ask them to open Circle

In their app, Circle is the tab with the people in it. Your name is the keyholder place at the top. The in app help says the same three steps: open Circle, tap your keyholder, then Resend keyholder access.

  2. They tap Resend keyholder access

The row sits on your person page. The screen reports failures and rate limits honestly rather than pretending the mail went out, so they will know if nothing was sent.

  3. Open the new email and add the pass again

The letter carries both halves: the pass to add to Wallet, and the link to your status page. Delete the old card if it is still on the phone, because it no longer answers.

The keyholder status page: 48 days left, Day 42 of 90, Ends Oct 21, a banner reading "Alex asked to leave early," and rows reading Protected and Ends.

The status page a fresh link opens

  4. Set Face ID up again on the new device

If you moved phones, the check that stands in front of a decision is device bound and does not travel. Set it up inside the 24 hour window the resend opens, or ask them to resend again to open a fresh one.

If you never accepted in the first place

A resend only works on a live keyholder link. If you were invited and never finished the accept, there is nothing to resend, and the fix is a new invite: they cancel the pending invite in their app and share a fresh link. Invite links live 72 hours from the moment they are made, so an old one may simply have expired.

What this does not do

Resending does not change who you are or what you can see. The eleven facts a keyholder is shown are the same before and after, and no history is replayed into the new card.

It also does not fix a card that is merely stale rather than lost. A pass that has stopped updating is a different problem, and opening it to force a refresh is the first thing to try before asking for a resend that will cost you the setup on your current device.
