Apps, sites, the category shield and the block screen: what each layer stops, and what none can.
- How does Fold'em block apps?Fold'em asks Apple's Screen Time to shield the apps you picked, so tapping one draws a block screen over it instead of opening it.
- How does Fold'em block betting sites?Fold'em installs a DNS setting that points every lookup this phone makes at its own resolver, and the resolver answers a known gambling domain with 0.0.0.0, the address for nowhere, so the page never loads.
- Why is Chrome blocked but Safari is not?Screen Time's website filter only takes effect inside Safari, so Safari is left installed and filtered rather than sealed shut.
- What does the Games category shield do?It blocks every app in the App Store's Games category on your phone, including ones you install later, so a new betting app filed as a game cannot get past the list you picked.
- How do I add an app or a site?There is one add path for both kinds: the plus tile in the Blocked apps sheet opens Apple's picker, apps you tick land in Blocked apps and websites land in Blocked sites.
- What is the block screen?The block screen is what iOS draws over a sealed app instead of opening it.
- Which sites are on the block list?There are three site lists in Fold'em and they are never added together.
- What can Fold'em not block?Fold'em holds one iPhone, and everything outside that phone is outside Fold'em: another device, a computer, a betting shop, cash.
- What does the Shield tab show?The Shield tab is the state of your protection in two tiles: WEB for the web shield and APPS for the apps you sealed, each with one word and one line under it.
