How is Money kept worked out?

The figure is your own weekly stake spread over the time since your last bet, the date you gave in setup, or since the day you first started protection if you gave none, less any time Screen Time was off and any wait after it to pick your apps again.

The full answer

Fold’em has no access to your bank and measures nothing: the weekly number is one you gave it, and you can change it at any time from the money page, which works the whole figure out again from the new one. No amount ever reaches your keyholder or your supporters, and the page says so: Private to you.

The whole calculation

Money kept is an accrual: the weekly figure you named, spread over the time since your last bet, or since the day you first started protection if you gave no date, less any time Screen Time was off and any wait after it to pick your apps again. That is the entire method. At a weekly boundary it comes to exactly the weekly figure times the number of weeks, and between boundaries it keeps growing so the number visibly moves.

It counts from that date and from nothing else, so ending your protection and starting it again do not reset it. Saying you gambled resets your count and your milestones and deliberately leaves this figure alone, so the two dates part company from that day on: the days you already held are still days you did not spend.

The number it multiplies

  1. You name the weekly stake

The questions at the start ask what gambling cost you in a week, so the figure is always one you gave rather than one Fold’em guessed. The same figure is the Weekly gambling spend row on the money page. Its sheet, Weekly spend, asks one question, what gambling cost you in a typical week, and takes one amount, with four quick picks to start from.

The Weekly gambling spend sheet over Today: What did you usually spend on gambling each week? A field reading $ 200 per week, the lines Used to estimate money kept and Changes apply from today, and a Save changes button.

    Naming the weekly stake

  2. The money page shows the working

Opening the money card from Today gives you the total against the goal you chose, drawn as a picture that builds as the figure grows, then three rows: Change goal, Weekly gambling spend with the figure, and Money history. Money history shows the estimated total and the weekly figure it comes from. The page ends with Private to you.

Money kept: the goal A week away over a beach cabin being built, $1,510 of $3,000 with a progress bar labelled Starting out, Taking shape and Complete, Money kept from betting, then the rows Change goal, Weekly gambling spend $200 and Money history, and Private to you at the foot.

    Money kept, private to you

Why it is an example and not a measurement

Fold’em connects to no bank, no card and no operator account. It cannot see a deposit, a withdrawal, a win or a loss. So this figure is not a claim about what you would have lost; it is your own stated rate applied to time you can prove you held, and every input to it is visible on the sheet that renders it.

It is also not an average of anybody. There is no typical user figure anywhere in the app, because the number comes from a value each person sets and there is no distribution to average over.

Your keyholder never sees an amount

No money figure reaches a keyholder or a supporter through any channel, and there is no switch that would send one. The money you have kept is yours to read and nobody else's, and what a keyholder can see is a short, fixed list that has no money on it.

What this does not do

The figure changes nothing. It gates no shield, ends nothing, shortens no wait, and it is never an input to what your phone blocks. Editing the weekly rate works the whole figure out again from the new rate, the weeks already counted included, and changes nothing else: nothing about the block moves in either direction. And because it multiplies a rate by days rather than watching your money, setting a stake far above or below what you really spent produces a number that is exactly as wrong as the stake you gave.
