Where can I talk to someone?

Updated September 2026

Fold'em carries a bundled directory of 24 countries plus an international fallback, and resolves it against your phone's own region setting, so the organisation it names is one you can actually reach. It is one tap from SOS and two from Settings, under Talk to someone. Where the resolved organisation has a phone number the sheet offers to call it; where it has none, the sheet offers its website instead of inventing a number. The numbers at the foot of this page are the ones the website can name without knowing where you are.

Which organisation you are shown, and how it is chosen

The directory ships inside the app: 24 countries and an international fallback, 41 organisations in all. Fold'em reads your phone's region setting once per launch and matches it against that list. There is no permission prompt, no location, no network call and no country picker, and a region you change today applies at the next launch rather than swapping the organisation named on a screen while you are looking at it.

A country can list more than one organisation, so one is chosen as the one to talk to, in a fixed order: a helpline first, then a support network, then a self exclusion register. If your region is not in the list at all you get the international fallback, which is a website rather than a phone line, and the app says so instead of showing a number that would not connect.

The sheet itself is one component with the same shape everywhere it opens: the organisation's name, its own description of what it does, Call on the number when there is one, and Visit on its site. Where the resolved organisation has no phone number the Call row does not exist at all, the site takes the primary place, and the button that opens the sheet reads Support rather than Helpline. There is no text or SMS action anywhere, in any country, because the directory records one phone number per organisation and no promise that it accepts messages.

Where to find it

  1. From SOS, one tap

Press SOS from the foot of any tab, and the Helpline button sits under the six tools, beside the people in your circle. This is the one surface where reach is a single tap, and the sheet opened here carries no completion row, so nothing on the crisis screen asks you to tick anything.

  2. From Settings, two taps

Settings carries Talk to someone under Help. Tapping it opens the row in place rather than pushing a page: the people in your circle whose number is on this phone appear first, and the helpline button under them opens the same sheet.

  3. From the Shield tab, as one layer of four

The Shield tab carries a Layered self exclusion row that opens a checklist of four: installing Fold'em, which is already ticked because using the app is the first layer; speaking with the organisation for your country; blocking gambling transactions with your bank; and self excluding with the operators themselves. The last two open notes rather than doing anything for you.

The ticks are for you and nobody else

The checklist and the sheet both offer Mark as completed, and what it stores never leaves the phone. It is not sent to a server, it is never visible to your keyholder or a witness, and it is not an input to any block, timer or unlock. The helpline tick records the country it was marked against, so changing region does not present a conversation held with one organisation as a conversation held with another. A reinstall resets the count to one of four, because it is an encouragement and not a record of what you did.

What this does not do

Fold'em does not call for you, does not pass your number to anyone, and does not tell an organisation that you opened its sheet. It is not a treatment service and holds no clinical relationship with any of the 41 organisations it lists; each one is independent and free to reach. The directory is fixed in the app you have installed, so a number that changes is corrected in a release and not from a server. And a helpline is a different thing from a block: talking to somebody does not extend, shorten or end your term.
